What is a Unity Bead?

The Kandi Love Unity Beads enable you to watch your Kandi on it’s journey, meet the people it comes in contact with, and see the places it travels to.

Each Kandi that is registered with a Unity Bead has it’s own dedicated web page. When visiting the web page from the Unity Bead, this unlocks the ability for the user to claim the Kandi and add themselves to it’s history.

Here is an example Kandi that has traveled from Washington state, to Denver, and then to it’s current home in Florida: https://kandi.kandilove.com/k/U%20R%20HOT

From the Kandi page you can see the current and historical owners. Each owner has a profile, and on that profile you can find that users social media links.

How do Unity Beads work?

1. First let’s take a look at how the Kandi pages work.

Each Kandi has it’s own dedicated page with it’s own URL that includes it’s own vanity handle which is created during the registration of the Kandi. The URL for Kandi is at the path /k

Example:

So from our example, the kandi vanity handle is ‘U R HOT’, and to make this work for URLs, the spaces are replaced with %20 making the URL:

2. Now let’s look at Unity Bead URLs

Unity Beads also have their own URLs at the path /t with the following format:

Each Unity Bead has a unique code generated for them, which is simply just any UUID.

What is a UUID?

Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) is a 128-bit label used for information in computer systems. When generated according to standard methods, UUIDs are practically unique. Their uniqueness doesn’t rely on a central authority or coordination between parties, unlike most other numbering schemes. While the chance of duplication isn’t zero, it’s negligible. So, anyone can create a UUID with near certainty that it won’t duplicate an existing one.

Anyone can generate one of these in any programming language of their choice, or use a free tool such as https://www.uuidgenerator.net/

For example, we generated one with value of df2a8706-2ac4-4020-8155-9f33e6a43585

And the path to the Unity Bead for this code would be:

Now that we have a URL for our Unity Bead, we can generate a QR code for. QR codes can also be generated by many different programming languages, or online for free using tools like https://www.qr-code-generator.com/

Note: be sure to add ‘https://‘ at the beginning of the URL to make sure it’s properly formatted

3. How do Unity Bead pages work?

When you visit the URL for a Unity Bead, if it has not been registered yet you will land on a page that will display your current Kandi collection, where you can attach the Unity Bead to an existing Kandi:

However, if the Unity Bead has already been registered and assigned to a Kandi, it will instead redirect you to the URL of the Kandi, such as https://kandi.kandilove.com/k/U%20R%20HOT

Navigating to the Kandi url from the Unity Bead unlocks the ability for the user to claim the kandi and add themselves to it’s history. The Unity Bead acts as a lock or password to the Kandi.

I have a QR code, now what?

There are many different ways you can attach a QR code to Kandi. Here are a few that we have done:

  1. Print them out and glue them to an existing bead or perler. To help protect the code from getting damaged, you can add a self-adhesive protective layer to them, such as: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075ZJSRM2
  2. Make a resin epoxy bead and put the QR code within the resin. This is how we have been making all of the Unity Beads found at https://kandilove.com/collections/unity-beads

How to register Kandi

The final step is making and registering your Kandi.

First, let’s make a Kandi using one of our Unity Beads:

Next go to kandi.kandilove.com and signin. From the home page, click on the green + to start the registration process. Here is a short demo on how to register the Kandi:

And that’s it! Now when you trade or give your Kandi away, when they scan the QR code they will be taken to the Kandi page you just created, and can add themselves to the history and claim the Kandi! Claimed Kandi that you currently own or have owned in the past will show in your Kandi collection on the home screen so you can keep up with it!
